20. A Fresh Look at Chinese Factory Conditions

Download this episode (right click and save) The Chinese factory conditions is a recurring topic in the media and throughout the manufacturing industry. On one end of the spectrum, Western media often portrays Chinese factories as dirty and poorly-kept facilities where underage workers earn low wages working long hours under unsafe conditions. On the other end, we often hear about clean, uniform factories where iPhones and other high-tech products are manufactured. During the last podcast episode, we interviewed InTouch's newest intern about his thoughts of QC in China and how his expectations on Chinese factories compared to his own experiences. In this manufacturing podcast, InTouch Client Manager John Niggl invites new Client Manager George Huang to share his thoughts on his experiences in factories so far, since his move to China. Being a native of China, but raised in the United States, he now comes back to China to take part in the quality control. Being a new hire, he provides us with another fresh look on Chinese factory conditions. Listen in as George discusses:
  • First impressions while visiting factories
  • Treatment toward auditors by factory staff
  • How Chinese factory conditions differ between product-types
Hear all about the conditions of Chinese factories from a real first-person perspective, "no holds barred".
