InTouch and ZappBug

Founded in 2011 and based in the United States, ZappBug is an innovative, young company whose products exterminate bedbugs permanently and safely. The company produces heating units which are used to kill bed bugs and bed bug eggs at 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

A Commitment to Safety

ZappBug is a company committed to safety, avoiding using hazardous chemicals or pesticides and installing a tip-over safety switch onto the heating unit to prevent fire hazards. Before it came to time ship their products, ZappBug needed to be sure that their heating units were manufactured in a manner that lived up to their own quality and safety standards. By entering a partnership with InTouch, ZappBug was able to have experts at their supplier’s factory to examine the products and test them first-hand.

Hipot.jpgInTouch’s Electrical Testing Program

InTouch created and implemented a rigorous testing program to verify the electrical insulation of the heating unit. Combined with Hi-Pot testing, InTouch inspectors assessed whether the insulation in the product could easily break down over time, confirming any excessive leakage in current flow and thereby establishing whether the insulation was sufficient enough to protect the operator from any electric shocks during use.

Through tests like these for current leakage and electrical safety, InTouch reported the level of safety and workmanship directly to ZappBug and, in doing so, was able to save the company tens of thousands of dollars in potential recalls. ZappBug continues to rely on InTouch as their choice third-party inspection partner for the quality assurance and peace of mind we provide.
